About the Camp
The Great Adventure Camp (TGAC) inspires foster teens ages 12-15 to build confidence and trust through classic camp activities. Camp takes place in a unique ranch setting within the Flint Hills north of Manhattan, offering the ideal backdrop for teens to find hope and belief in a brighter future.
TGAC is a three-day, gender specific camp (one camp for girls and one camp for boys) designed to cultivate a sense of connection with other teens who have experienced the uncertainty of the foster care system.
We also have fun! Campers enjoy everything summer camp has to offer: hiking, archery, water activities, s’mores around a campfire, delicious camp food and so much more. Check out our FAQs for more information.
The Challenge Course
Each camper spends a good deal of time on the challenge course with their peers and coaches. Our challenge course is all about team building and trust. It is not an agility or strength course. Instead, this unique experience gives each teen a chance to overcome obstacles and share their stories.
Camp Coaches and Staff
TGAC creates a transformative experience by pairing teens with adult volunteer coaches who have been thoroughly trained for the purpose of encouraging and uplifting each camper. Additionally, support staff volunteers work behind the scenes to keep camp running seamlessly. All volunteers are interviewed, background checked and trained before working at camp.
